A typical symptom of this health problem is severe pain (resembling a cut with a knife) accompanied by a few drops of blood during defecation bowel movement. All diseases occurring in the anus area are mistaken for hemorrhoids, and we usually encounter a patient who has already used various medications for hemorrhoids.
It is particularly common in people with chronic constipation and women after childbirth. The skin of the anus torn by hard faeces, acquires a chronic character when defecation recurs before it has time to heal. The protruding part of the skin in the area of the laceration, which attempts to correct this situation, is assumed to be hemorrhoids.
Although medical treatment and dietary recommendations are the first approaches, they are usually insufficient.
Surgical treatment: There are internal and external muscles that recover the anus. In surgical treatments, the inner muscle is cut and the anus is relieved and the wound heals. Sometimes, if the outer muscle is damaged, the patient may have gas or faecal incontinence. The treatment process is difficult.
Botox injection (botulinum toxin): Due to the application of Botox into the internal muscle, it usually stops functioning and the tear starts to recover after 1 week.
Our experience has shown us that the success rate of Botox application is 75%. So 1 in 4 patients do not heal. We recommend a second application of Botox to a patient who has not healed. If a result is still not achieved, surgical treatment should be performed.
