Circumcision is the surgical removal of some part of the skin covering the glans (head) of the penis.
Circumcision is performed on young boys for religious and cultural reasons.
In our centre, circumcision procedures are performed at different ages, including the newborn period.
Although our recommendation is the first 1 year or 6-7 years of age, as a result of our experience, circumcision can be performed in any period when appropriate sedation or local anaesthesia option is preferred.
We enlighten the family with a booklet containing the usual and unusual images and information that may occur after the circumcision procedure.
The circumcision procedure takes 15 minutes. We discharge the patient after 2 hours of observation. We examine the patient once 24 hours after the procedure and make necessary recommendations.
