Hernia is the displacement of some organs or parts of our body due to congenital or acquired causes.
For example, in inguinal hernia, the inguinal canal is opened and the intestines in the abdomen move to the neighbourhood of the testicles.
In surgical hernias, as a result of tearing of the muscle layers in the operated area, the organs rupture the abdominal membrane and move under the skin.
Hiatal hernia (gastric hernia): This is the condition in which the upper part of the stomach, which should be located in the abdominal cavity, passes through the diaphragmatic opening and enters the chest cavity.
If a nutritional problem occurs in the displaced organ in the hernia problem, it causes gangrene and requires urgent major surgical operation.
Therefore, when a hernia is diagnosed, treatment should be planned at an appropriate time interval.
Hernia operations are performed laparoscopically (closed) at our centre.
